This week's CAS challenge is to CASE an Alumni CAS DT; I chose Brenda (tessaduck) to feature this week.
Brenda is a talented CAS artist using inlays and die embossing to create many of her masterpieces! I believe my first memory of meeting Brenda online was when we both played in the March 2012 VSN. The moment stands out to me because we both improvised in showing "gears" on our cards and I LOVED how she created hers.
Brenda has since become a good friend. She shares her thoughts on stamping purchases, sends me RAKs and responds kindly to my panicked emails! Brenda reminds me often to BREATHE.
For my card I used the candle die cut that Brenda gifted me! I decided to spritz the white die cut with gold and that's when disaster struck! I spritzed the die cut in a box that had previously been used to spritz something green! When I sprayed the gold on the candles it activated the green and oh dear, there was green on the edges of two candles and a few leaves!
My first thought was to trash the die cut but it was the only one I had and it looked rather pretty with the bits of green, so I thought, what would Susie Australia do? I love Susie's descriptions of her masterful rescues, so inspired, I placed the die cut back in the box and with my finger added more green in a few places to make it look like I created a two tone candle centerpiece on purpose!

Love the green! It gives the die cut character. (Besides, it's green and yellow, Oregon Duck colors...) The embossed frame and the bright berries are awesome, too.
Thank you so much, my friend. It's such a lovely card, and a great boost to my mojo, to have been chosen.

Oh Angie, that just made me giggle, as I did the SAME thing, but with my brayer (for a MIX challenge a couple weeks ago) and it turned my glitter GREEN. What is it with green??
In any case, this is just lovely, and I think it gives your leaves dimension. Beautiful die cut and great challenge!

I love this! So pretty and I thought the color was meant to be 2-tone. Angie, this CAS challenge is such a wonderful tribute to Brenda. But, I gotta tell you the greatest part of the challenge was picking one card out of so many CASEable creations.

I love reading about how you and Brenda are friends and then I loved even more how you "saved" your diecut. It really does look wonderful two-toned and that was my first thought, "how she do that?" It's CAS perfection!

I seriously thought the green was purposeful and so beautiful. Like a verdigris kind of metallic color. All good! Love the embossed frame around the candles.
