Dina had quite the challenge for us today. We were to doodle with our non-dominant hand on a mixed media piece. I had index cards and a fine point pen close by while my youngest DD was doing her school. I copied this tree from the book cover for What On Earth Am I Here For? I hand wrote my Scripture verse as well. After school was over, I pulled out some Gelatos, paint and water and colored in my tree. I also used my metallic Sharpie for a couple of leaves. I sort of lost the detail of my ink marks on the tree under the acrylic paint, so once it was dry I went back with my left hand and added back more doodled bark. I put it into a frame and called it done! I mixed the color of the leaves as if it were Autumn even though the verse talks about how we flourish like a tree because sometimes, we go through tough, stressful times and think we're losing the battle....Spring always comes again though and if we are rooted right, the leaves will return!
Step by step photos on my blog.
*edited to add....since I wasn't stamping my initial image, I drew it with my right hand....the doodling with my left was the bark detail on the tree. I also used my right hand for the verse

This is such a wonderful piece of work!! I like the verse and what you said about it. I can't believe you did this with your left hand. WOW, you're good!!

Gosh, Gail - what a fabulous card for the challenge. I couldn't even do very well with my attempt to doodle bark lines! Cool autumn leaves, too . A great interpretation of your Scripture verse.
