Cathy has a super-easy WTUI challenge for us this week ~ Spritz It or Spray It .
Again, I've combined it with the CCEE Stampers challenge from Amber. She's asked us to make a card or a project suitable for giving to a teacher on the first day of school. Since a back-to-school card isn't much good to me I decided to alter a notebook with an inspirational sentiment in chalkboard format.
Normally I make my cover slightly larger than the notebook front and fold the edges over and mitre them on this inside, but I was feeling lazy for this and just made the cover marginally larger then the actual notebook size, stuck it on REALLY well and trimmed it to size. I started with wrinkle free distress using old paper, weathered wood and iced spruce. Then I stamped the script stamp with Smokey Grey. Then I used a diamond stencil and some DIY mister. The first one was already on my desk and came out too pale, mostly just adding gold shimmer, so I added some Wild Honey re-inker to darken it up. After sticking it to the notebook I trimmed it, sponged the edges with Walnut Stain and added a little paint with drywall mesh tape.
Sentiment stamped on black card, embossed with white EP and smudged with white ink while in the die. I added a colourful butterfly cut from a scrap of paper, with Stickles on the body.

LOVE your distressed bkgrd journal cover, Sabrina! The stamping and colors are terrific. The chalkboard sentiment looks good. "In the day" I was an Annette and Frankie fan. Loved those beach movies.

Such a fabulous little notebook, Sabrina, with a sentiment we each need to remember every day! I love the chalkboard look for the sentiment and the sensational distressing of the cover. Your delicate butterfly brings the "wonderful" into sharp focus! Awesome work!

Absolutely perfect for the challenges, Sabrina. I love your altered notebook, and the chalkboard sentiment is wonderful. I remember Annette as a little girl on the Mickey Mouse Club. How sad that her life was cut so short!
