I am so grateful to all the artists on SCS who encourage me to stretch my horizons by creating beautiful things with products that are new to me. After hearing about Embossing Paste quite a lot recently, I checked out some YouTube videos and then jumped in with both feet. This tag (and the card that I made for this challenge) are my first attempts, and I must say I am tickled with the results of my experiment! Embossing paste creates a whole new option for dimension and texture!
I tried coloring some white embossing paste. I was afraid the Pretty in Pink reinker would create too light a color, so I used Regal Rose. Mistake! I'll bet the Pretty in Pink would have worked beautifully, since this color is really too dark to be PIP. But I used the layer anyway!
The other thing I discovered this week is that you can use Copics on images that are heat embossed. I've been warned not to, and to be honest, I just completely forgot until I was most of the way done with my coloring, when it occurred to me: "I'm not supposed to be doing this!" But the images turned out fine, and no evident damage to my marker tips.
So here's my tag for this week's color challenge, CC492, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and So Saffron. The dessert option is: DESSERT! Cupcake: Check!
Come join in the fun and make a card for this week's Color Challenge!

Oh, I love this one as well!! The embossing paste looks great (I just ordered some Gesso to try this technique- hope that works as well as your paste :-)) Love the stencil for the background and your coloring on the embossing looks wonderful as well!!

Beautiful tag Barbara. I am also a BIG fan of EB paste too. I have found that I can just sponge ink thru my stencil and then add white paste and the color bleeds thru. It is a nice soft color. Sometimes "after" the paste dries I will replace the stencil and sponge more color if I want it darker. I have quite a few cards in my gallery if you want to check out my descriptions, etc. Of course, I still think Loll Thompson is the Queen of stenciling and using EB Paste. Loll has lots of details on her blog.
TFS your tag and hosting this week. I hope to play in a couple of days. Hugs, Nancy

Doesn't it feel good to try something new??!! I have seen people talk about this embossing paste as well. I'm not always the first to try new things, but I am glad once I do. Your cupcake is yummy looking - it makes me crave frosting. :>) The pink is pretty and I like your sponging. Glad nothing happened to your markers. :>)
