This card is for Katie Sims, our new Featured Stamper and a recent Queen for the Day.
Where do I begin, Katie? No sweeter young woman could be so deserving of both these special honors. A help mate, loving daughter, wonderful sister, and an adoring aunt. A woman who has put other's needs before her own, and yet, still has time for the stamping community.
Katie it's a pleasure to CASE one of your cards. When I read your blog write up on this card my heart filled with love, and a lump rose in my throat. For I have loved a grandmother, reached through time and space to touch her beautiful handwriting on a card, and remembered her just as you have remembered yours. Your card is exquisite, and your heart so full of love.
I've changed several things, but not enough that you can't recognize which card I chose (she smiles). I stamped an image from Flourishes Botanical Bookplate vol. 2 (the larger Lily of the Valley) onto Ranger Watercoloring paper. Then I used my Grumbracher Pan Transparent Watercolors to paint it. I didn't have the type of embossing powder to crack the image, so I used some Ranger Distress Crackle Paint. I cut the image out, trimmed it with the Krylon Gold Leafing Pen *giggle* and adhered it to the top layer.
I didn't use a greeting tag because I finished the inside of the card with another Flourishes sentiment: A Cheery Hello. Both image and sentiment are Marcella Hawley's illustrations. So that's it Katie girl. If I came even somewhere near your lovely creation, then I feel honored. I'm delighted with each and every piece of work you create. And it is my fondest wish that this week you'll know how special you are to so many. Congratulations my friend.
Sweet hugs,

Susie, I was so awed by your gorgeous card, and then I read your beautiful write up and loved the card even more. My mom and I started collecting bone china tea cups when I was 10...now that she is gone, I have the collection. There is one cup that looks exactly like this card. Your color choices and layout are fantastic. Just a lovely card.

Oh I love this peachy beauty...your Krylon work ROCKS on that incredible image. I can especially appreciate it having just made a card with that pen that wasn't nearly as successful as you were! Your case of Katie's beautiful card is just amazing and I KNOW she will love it. Love how you did your different layers and the sweet bow treatment..I have sweet grandmother memories too...how lucky we were to have that relationship!
