This is a birthday card I created for my good friend's Dad, Bill in 2011, but didn't upload this onto my gallery on SCS for some reason.
I wanted to continue trying direct coloring with Marvy markers (brush and LePlume II) onto rubber stamps, but this time wanted it to be for a masculine card, so my goal was a less pretty card, one more distressed and vintage.
I really like the color combination of Old Olive, Really Rust, and More Mustard, and that is the main color combination I used in this card. The card base is Old Olive cardstock, then the next layer is the dry-embossed layer which is in Really Rust. That layer was dry-embossed using a distressed stripes EF by Cuttlebug. Then it was further distressed using some Really Rust ink on a dauber and the embossed image was highlighted with Really Rust ink on the same color of CS, so it's a subtle effect.
The focal image from Garden Silhouettes was colored using Marvy brush and/or LePlume II markers colored directly on that SU image, then it was stamped on Local King Rubber Stamps' own glossy cardstock that they import from the middle east. This glossy cs is different from regular glossy cs (I was told this by the owners of Local King Rubber Stamps), as there is clay in the ingredients. Hoping to get more information eventually. I distressed the edges of that image with More Mustard ink after first taking the ticket punch and punching all 4 corners. I tried creating a slightly larger frame of the same shape, and distressed the edges, then decided I needed yet another frame layer. These were not put on dimensionals, just some sookwang tape. I really like the combination of mustard and rust, and adding old olive really makes it pop. The card front was finished by cutting and embossing a Spellbinder's tag on Old Olive cs, thenHappy Birthday was stamped plus the edges of the tag were distressed slightly with Old Olive ink The tag was affixed using 2 metal screw-like brads. Bill is a handyman, and I wanted to use elements of this skill throughout my card.
Thank you for taking the time to check out this card. Please feel free to browse my gallery if you like. I cannot express how much I appreciate your comments--they are such an encouragement, and it is my goal to learn from them and to improve as a card-maker.

Gorgeous masculine card, I love the sponging around the edges of your flower image and the embossed layer behind it. Thanks also for posting such detailed instructions - you do a very thorough job of explaining, which is helpful!! Love your gallery, by the way!

I love many of the older Stamps, and okder styles of cards. In fact, I just bought some stamping up stamps from before the 21st century. Great card, thank you for sharing.
