My goodness - I get to go on camp along with everyone else for today's Summer Camp Tickle a Teapotter challenge brought to us by Faith - and I'm not even late!
We've been having sunny weather here recently which is a) too rare to miss, and b) sends the temperature in my attic soaring into the 80s with no way of cooling it. Today is cooler and grey, and I ran most of the way from work to the bus stop and got an early bus home which gives me a little more time before I have to go out again!!
I've attended many camps in my day - mostly as a cook. At Easter camp, we always climbed a nearby mountain and had a midnight bonfire on Saturday night, but I just made a card representing that for the last VSN. (Almost inevitably the person driving up as far as possible with the stuff to cook on the fire got lost, rolles eyes). I remember one year we brought along some origami paper and books, and some of the boys had great fun making leaping frogs and racing them. The Scripture Union adventure centre here is set in my home county where I grew up, in a valley with a river for canoeing, a good beach nearby, woods and mountains...so Fred Bear is representative of one of the adult camps I used to cook for - Wet, Wild and Windy weekends in October and November, where I got to stay in my nice warm kitchen and everyone else faced the mountains and perhaps the cold river too. I always loved the music at those camps, - though it wasn't always easy to combine kitchen duties with playing piano I always made it work because there were always some wonderful musicians who gave their time to come along, including one of the two best drummers I know:D.
At summer camp, we always had a banquet one night - a full three course meal when the team served the campers, with everyone preparing small acts for the entertainment. Gosh - now I want to pull out my camp photo album and recover some more memories!!! I could go on writing about them for a long time...
Fred Bear stamped and masked. Trees stamped, then coloured with pencil. Foreground and sky sponged in, then I coloured Fred with pencils and added the sentiment from ODBD and a doodled border. My clear Sakura Glaze pen, which used to make a wonderful resist layer, seems to have dried up so I had to fix the snail's eyes with Liquid Pearls and a black Sharpie.
I know the current ODBD challenge is sponging or stencilling, and since I used an ODBD sentiment and sponged my background I'm submitting this for that challenge also.

I too love this sentiment, one very apt and a great one for any collection. BEAUTIFUL scene you've created, and I love the dear bear you've masked into place.
What a wonderful lady you are, giving by your service at these camps!!! I am impressed!!!! Service to Him makes a difference that affects not only now but can change paths that these campers take--what could be a more important way to spend your time!!!

What a precious little bear taking a stroll in the woods! Love this scene and the sentiment is awesome. I am really enjoying hearing everyone's stories. At our camp there was canoeing, swimming pool, archery, crafts, climbing wall, ropes course, miniature golf, baseball and Bible class. Most of the kids we had were from terrible situations and poor. It was wonderful to see them really enjoying themselves and being free. Thanks for taking part in the challenge Sabrina. TFS

Oh Sabrina, I sure hope your sweet bear here doesn't get a whiff of the honey on my card or Counselor Fred's toes might be in for some trouble. hehe I love the scene you came up with. This is such a delight for the eyes. Say, since you go by Cook22, is the why you were a Cook at camp? Just wondering. Love your card and write up. TFS :0)

What wonderful memories Sabrina. You should definitely pull out the photos.
Your little bear is so cute hiking along here. (You could have put a pinwheel in his hand. I doubt I'll have time to do the pinwheel challenge, but I loved your little video of the pinwheel spinning -- it was just so unexpected.).

You KNOW how much I love this!!! I was considering hopping on a plane to Dublin and looking you up, simply so I could 'fuss' at you about worrying over sending a stash card to my stepdad!! What you sent was incredibly beautiful and whether you sent something or didn't, I know that he was in your thoughts and that you were there for me as well. Just as I am for you and the rest of the sisters!!! Thank you, sweet girl, for being one of the most beautiful people I've ever met! MWAAAH! Big hugs!!!

I was so caught up in your story that I forgot how terrific your card was LOL. One of those drummers wouldn't be your DH by any chance?? Sabrina your card and story are wonderful. You are going to make some Teapotter very happy indeed. I LOVE the google eyes in the snail.
Don't take your organs to heaven - heaven knows we need them here.
