The CAS283 Challenge (7/28/14) was to use ribbon scraps in a project. Boy howdy, do I ever have a collection of ribbon scraps! They are artfully displayed in clear glass jars, lovely to look at and seldom disturbed. How nice to to have a reason to dig through those scrap treasures!
I fully intended to make a banner ribbon card, with nothing else but a sentiment. Well, that idea morphed into a swing set card when I spotted all those delightful little pieces of ribbon that dropped to the table when I snipped the banner ties. Please note that the swing seat is ribbon-pieced, just for fun. Even the underside of the swing seat is covered with ribbon, just on the off chance that the person who gets this card decides to look underneath.
I used heavy twine recycled from a tag that came on something I bought. I thought it was perfect for this project until it came time to figure out how to attach it to the card. Knots were clunky, brads were impossible to get over the bulk and glue wouldn't hold. I opted to use tiny staples to nail it to the embossed panel - problem solved!
I heat embossed the sentiment on the vellum & diecut with a cute double-ended banner tag that is part of SU Thinlet Circle die set. A fellow SCS asked me a question about this die set over the weekend & I was delighted to re-discover this tag die. This is the FIRST time it's ever been used and I've had the die set for a year! Note to self: Shop my collection of dies before scouring the internet for new ones! ha..
This was a fun challenge and I thank you for taking the time to look at my ribbon swing set!

Oh, this swing is so cute and I love your embossing. This brought to mind a swing I had hanging from a big oak tree when I was a little girl. Thanks for the memory. Adorable card.

Your ribbon banner/swing card is so much fun! I like how there are embossed clouds in the background and also how you ribbon-pieced the seat (such attention to detail!)!
