I've been wanting to try this for a long while, so I was really excited when I found the copper at HL. I treated a large piece with DH's professional heat gun and cut it into smaller sections. The first piece I tried to die cut was a total failure - simpler dies work best, especially if you use wafer-thin dies. So I decided on this gorgeous bird rather than my failed tree, and ran it through the Big Shot using the magnetic platform and a metal shim. It took about four passes for the outline to cut through, it's a bonus that some of the detail pieces also cut through. Then I decided he needed more color, so I did some spot heating on wing and tail until it had more variation. I love how deeply the pattern of the die embossed the copper.
He is mounted to the heat embossed layer with Scor-tape on his body and tail and foam tape under his wing, then matted with a piece of the same cs as the base.
The verse was stamped and heat embossed and cut to size with the SB Matting Basics. I attached it to the base and attached the focal with foam tape.
I love this card - I think I'll have to hang on to it, at least for a while. Thanks, Loll, for sharing this technique! And as always, thanks for looking!

SO glad you finally got your copper! It is addictive though! Your card is gorgeous, Jody and what a great job you did getting such beautiful colors on your copper! I love your verse on this too. I like the idea of the professional heat gun and obviously it works great!
