I headed up crafts for the first time this year at VBS-wow what a job! I had leftovers from all the crafts and decided to make a thank you reminder gift for the leaders using elements of all the crafts we did this week. A man at our church made the bases for the Morse code tappers and though I said 30, he made almost 60!!! So, there were plenty for our 24 leaders and I will have enough for one more class to make an extra craft tomorrow! After including the extra elements on the tapper, I turned my attention to the tags. Believe it or not, the leaders used the crayon resist technique with their classes writing "awesome" in crayon then having the kids scribble highlighter over it to reveal the hidden attribute of God. So, I duplicated that first on the tags. I added some spatter and sponging (I've taken a little grief this week for being precise in my crafting so I wanted to show them I could do messy!) in Bermuda Bay. I stamped a faint cross in the bg in Crumb Cake. I used a marker to ink up just the fingerprint (another activity the leaders did with their kids) then stamped it followed by the sentiment. The kids were split into two teams and the code name of the one was the Grey Squirrels and they all had acorns stamped on the back of their name tags. Hopefully, these will mean as much to all our helpers as they did to me as I made them....it truly takes a team to pull off a ministry week like this and I am truly grateful for each one's part!
