It has been a couple of months since I did faux barn board technique. When I saw that the mixed media challenge was glue, I decided to do it today, with a twist. Usually I put a really thick layer of color on the bottom. This time I did the embossing folder stamping using brown markers and a wood grain embossing folder. Then I covered it with glue. I topped it with white paint that I had mixed with the ink from several blue markers. How I mix the paint was to take a plastic lid and scribble over the lid with the blue markers. Then I added a drop of white paint and mixed it with my fingers. Then I applied the blue paint to the card with my fingers. It was so humid today that it took almost 3 hours for my glue to dry. I kept blowing on it to hurry it along, but it just took patience. For the free for all part of this card, what I used from my stash was the floral filler and quilled roses. I added 3 butterflies that were stamped using Mark's Finest Papers CRACKED HELLO set. I used markers and water color pencils to color the butterflies.

I am always speechless when I see your faux barn wood tachnique...I am trying to get the nerve to try it, but I am sure I would be disappointed. You are the queen of this technique. This is such a stunning card. I always wish I had large versions of your artwork to hang on the wall.

Absolutely amazing effect with the glue. You've created such a beautiful scene on this card, Marilynn. I'd really like to see a video tutorial on how you've created the barn wood.

Gorgeous! That is some of the best faux bois I've seen in a while. The spray of flowers and butterflies are so fresh. Reminds me of something magical looking.

Gorgeous Marilynn!! Not sure I understand the glue/paint technique, I'll have to ask you more sometime. I really love it though and love the roses and butterflies too!
