When I saw today's CAS challenge was May flowers, I immediately thought of poppies for Memorial Day. The kids and I have been studying WWI and I am sickened by the magnitude of wasted lives in that war. So my remember would be a hope that in remembering we would fight no more!
Anyway, I decided to use my poppy die cutting it once with Garden Green then a few times for the flowers in Poppy Parade. I then cut "petals" and layered them for the Paper Tole effect curving the top petals a bit. I layered this over a white piece that I'd added paint to through dry wall mesh. I also wet a brush and spattered poppy ink around. After stamping my word (cheap alphabet stamps that are REALLY hard to line up and make extra ink lines if you don't think to wipe off the edges) I added a bit of faint black spatter as well hoping to make those extra black marks less visible. I also added a white liner inside and stenciled through it also.
PS-though not a direct CASE, I was definitely influenced by Bridget Finlay's cards on this one!

This is gorgeous! Love the bright red against that soft blue. Wonderful choice of flowers given the holiday. You are so right about the wasted lives in war. Unbelievable when you look back at it. Hugz!
