I'm not British, but I had the perfect leaping off point so I went with that instead of the Stars and Stripes! Believe it or not, this all began with a Union Jack stamped with my Tim Holtz ef rubbed with Gelatos and activated with water on a wet brush. Here's a card I made the other day that gives you an idea of where I started (I was able to stamp twice with the one application of Gelatos and even embossed one more printing!). I inked the Script bg stamp with Soft Suede and stamped that over most of the Union Jack. I then stamped clocks and gears and then sponged the edges before distressing the edges a bit. My tag is Kraft stamped with Espresso hardwood and sponged along the edges. I added my embossed pocketwatch in the corner and added some extra clock elements in Suede and Versamark. I also stamped some Grunge spatter and chevron also. I added a jumbo eyelet and mixed jutes through the tag, and then popped this over my Union Jack with a piece of burlap for accent.I had a leftover birthday sentiment piece-stamped Weathered in Suede over it and distressed the edges with a round file. I cut a frame of Espresso also stamped with Hardwood and distressed. I cut it into two and positioned it carefully behind my UJ piece. I added my goggles, some textured squares and a postage stamp, and a steampunk charm. I punched the inside pennant pieces out of a print dp that I sponged with Suede and backed them with black popped over a thick twine. My black base has Verdigris ink pressed through dry wall mesh. I sprinkled some black ep in random spots and embossed it. I took some pieces of book dp and added them above and below the frame. The inner card has another piece of watercolor paper with rough texture wheel and clocks stamped around. This will go to my sci-fi, fantasy book loving DS who is turning 22.
