I used the reverse masking technique (MIX6 to make this journal page. The cats are Memory Box dies; I cut them from transparency paper, and used both the cutouts and the frames as masks.
I did the dark cats first, using the frames from the die cuts. I stamped through the frame with the IO knitting stamp, and then used a blending tool to smudge the ink remaining on the transparency into the cat shape. Then I placed the cut-out cats on the page, and repeated the process to make the white cats. I masked all of the cats and stamped the red Justrite medallion stamps. Last I smudged them with a white prismacolor pencil, and added a little spray of Tattered Angel glimmer mist.
I learned something in this activity: when I stamped the knitting background the second time, around the white cats, I applied the ink only to the top part of the background stamp. Then I used my blending tool to soften the edge between the inked and not-inked portions of the stamp. When I stamped it, the color faded out nicely, instead of ending with a sharp edge. Thanks for looking!

I'm so glad to have found something that shows me what the IO knitting stamp loks like, now I know I definitely want it. I love textile stamps for adding texture. Those knitted cats are just delightful.
