This is for MIX 68 - Reverse Masking. I only recently learned there was a name for this - mortise masking. It's something that is in my regular bag of tricks, I do it a lot. For this focal image, I used both the mortise and the regular mask. I stamped my image, colored in selected parts of it with watercolor pencils (the blue bits and the beak), and then put the mortise mask over it. I then sponged Distress Inks over the uncolored parts. The mortise mask allowed me to use the Distress Inks to get a nice saturation and gradation without worrying about going outside the line. Then I masked the image itself, stamped my Music BG over it, and sponged Distress Ink over that, making sure to get close to the mask so there wouldn't be a line of uncolored card stock . After I die-cut the image, I sponged the corners before removing it from the die. Added a sequin flower with a rhinestone center. Two Nesties form the corner details. I had planned to do some painter's tape bits on the BG, but it really didn't need it and I think it would have been distracting. (Nor did it need the ribbon or other things I hauled out and played around with.) So, there's not a ton of different media here, but I think it still qualifies to be posted it in the gallery.
Fun challenge. Thanks for looking.

Since I love both music and birds, this is a winner on both fronts for me, Robin. I had to look to see the steampunk bits - I was looking at the sweep of the wings and thinking how well it would translate to embroidery. But the gearwheel part would be harder!!
It certainly looks great without the additions you decided to do without, but the sequin and jewel most certainly is a great embellishment.

This is way cool Robin! I need to check out that technique (didn't have time to play today) cuz what you've done looks fabulous! I love the fancy corners on this making such a pretty frame for your bird and the little flower is all you need. Awesome card
Wow! This one reason I LOVE notifying of favorites because I get to see beauties I would have missed! This is gorgeous and you have definitely given me a lot to think about for future coloring! Absolutely gorgeous bird! Fabulous card and going in my faves!
