Today's Ways to Use It challenge is to use our birth flower or birth stone. My birthday is in June - though the link gives pearls as the birth stone, alexandrites are also the June birth stone, a gem which comes in green, purple or pink - I've had several pieces of jewelry with pink alexandrite type gems given to me over the years. The card was made using a flourish stamp and a die-cut, copic coloured butterfly. I added some gems and a border but kept lots of white space.

What a beautiful card. Your colors and coloring on the butterfly are amazing. The clean design of your card really highlights the pretty butterfly. You used such a pretty flourish stamp and the gems are the perfect addition. It turns out that Susie australia and I share the same june 29 b-day. I will have to remember your twist on the gemstone since pearls are not my fav.

Beautiful, Bridget! I always preferred the Alexandrite to the pearls, too. The one my father gave me was a purplish with green tones when you turned it. I need to go make a card for this now, lol.

Huh. I really thought pearls were the only birthstone for June. Learned something new today! The pink (alexandrite) is gorgeous on this card.

Like the touches of color with the black flourish. You always know just where to place your embellishments to the best advantage. TFS your info about alexandrite. Who knew!
