My visit to the thrift shop is paying off again. I recently found this stuff that you do crossstitch on and I think it's called aida cloth. I have never done cross stitch, so correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway I had no cork and chose not to use corrugated cardboard this time.
I cut the cloth to A2 size and glued it onto cardstock. Die cut the poppies and glued them and the computer generated verse on. Done. It will be a sympathy card. I thought it needed a sympathy word die but don't have one, so the inside will be a handwritten note. I frayed the edges a little and used one of the strands from that to tie onto the stem. It's a little hard to see. I like it.

Well, that's cool!! I used to do counted cross stitch years ago. I do think that is what the cloth is called if I remember correctly.
Great idea to use it as a non paper product for your card!! Looks great!

Well...How cool is this? What an amazing cloth medium to do your card on. Love the thread holding your poppy (one of my most favorite die cuts) down! A wonderful sympathy card!

Wonderful sympathy card, Carol! Has a peaceful, reverent "feel." Like the aida cloth w/the simple silhouette flower. Great idea to tie the fabric thread around the flowers. It looks good.

Fantastic, Carol! Yes it is aida cloth. I really like the idea of using the aida on cards. I have a lot of it that I'll never use from years ago when I stitched. You've created a beautiful card with a unique medium - brilliant!

This challenge was made for you..you find unusal items to use on your cards and you did it again! The aida cloth is great...I have tons of it..maybe I have a new material for my cards. Great design, perfect for a sympathy card..and I can see the tiny threads around the bottom...a wonderful detail.

I believe it is called "aida cloth", Carol....you're correct. WOW what a super bg it makes for your die cut on this elegant CAS card. I like folks who can think laterally. ; )

How pretty the silhouette looks against the texture of the cloth! I gotta get out more - this was a great find!
