Lydia sent us back to Kindergarten this week to play with crayons in the latest Mixed Media challenge. Wendy set a "star" challenge at Free for All and Linda has us celebrating Arbor Day in the Ways to use it challenge.
I started by swishing the cardstock in Dylusions Ink Spray, after it completely dried I dry embossed the tree. I then coloured the tree with black crayon. Because of the Dylusions ink the crayon didn't adhere very well, so I wiped the entire card with a baby wipe.
I then attacked the card with distress inks. I went over the tree again with black crayon and this time the coverage was good. The tree looks very black in real life and has a shimmery finish. The little girl was stamped with Memento.
I had a heap of fun making this. Thank you for looking.

This too reminds me of a book illustration. It's beautiful, Susie, into my favourites. I'm glad to see that crayons weren't totally trouble free for you either, LOL. I've tried all the techniques Lydia linked to at least twice, and only ever ended up with one result I liked. And I think I've bought 5 different types of white crayon in my quest for better results.

What a great 'how-to' Susie - thanks! I have never tried any of the techniques you have used so I may need to read it a few times! A fabulous card, with glorious colours blended so beautifully.

You are so creative. I only use ef for bkgs. Using the tree for part of the main image is genius...the tree turned out stunning. I love your misty blue and green bkg. Susie you sure have mastered the dylusion spreys. Now I have to go look through my ef collection. You have inspired me.

Susie, I had a lot of fun with this challenge too. Love the glow you achieved with the technique. It reminds me of a summers eve. I love it when you stretch your mixed media mind (she smiles)!
