This is for Linda's great WT476 challenge to create a card with a tree on it to celebrate Arbor Day and for the last of Kathy's April challenges to the CCEE Stampers for April, which was to say what April showers mean to us.
Rather than a more generic "April showers bring May flowers" type theme, I went for a particularly memorable April shower! So memorable that I, who don't particularly have a good visual memory, can picture exactly what I was wearing that day thirty years ago (a blue pinafore dress in a checked wool, and a handknit Aran sweater ;-)- and the suede boots that were left in the car.
Picture a lovely warm sunny day in late April. So warm that when I'd parked the car up in the forest car park, I left my boots and tights in the car even before I started my walk. It was a lovely day - spring in the air, and I saw deer, rabbits, squirrels, plenty of birds, and after about an hour's walk I was sitting in a clearing watching a fox when suddenly the sky grew dark and there was a sudden hail shower. And it stayed cold - so that I had to run back to the car, and for the only time ever in all my days of running and walking barefoot in the woods and mountains, I bruised my feet because they were too cold to feel the ground.
So this card, which was created with a lot of masking, represents that April afternoon so long ago, and an unexpected hail shower. Images are coloured with Polychromos pencils, and I sponged in the sky. Spring foliage stamped on the trees with Peeled Paint, and I used some chunky white EP to represent the hail. It's edged with a black marker, and I added a sentiment stamped on vellum.

Sabrina, this is exactly the way spring looked here last week. The snow showed up just after my husband planted the pansies.
Your scene is so pretty sweet and accurate!

you know it's kinda funny in a way right? ( and it was snowing here on monday so, before I read the story I was like oh you get snow showers for April too) this is a really cool scene Sabrina, I love the texture of the hail and that the sentiment looks like a cloud on the vellum.

Your card is beautiful any time of year Sabrina!! I love the little critters in the forest and the way you created the hail. We have had a lot of similar weather. I think we will all appreciate the warmer weather and the spring when it really gets here.
Super card and I can relate to the event, spring time is slow in coming here-warm one day and spitting snow the next. You had an adventure and it is so creative to use it in a card.

Oh, how fun to be caught in the rain, but caught in hail must have been a bit frightening! I love this depiction of that very day, and isn't it interesting how our minds work, so that we can even remember what we were wearing on that day! I love the little forest animals; they don't seem to care what's happening!
