WooHoo it’s Teapot Tuesday. The gremlins in cyber space gave us Teapotters so grief this week and we had to wait for the challenge to go ‘live’..no cheating!! Our challenge is to bring some Peace, Love and Lava Lamps to Lesley of Edmonton, Canada. I hope our cards bring some sunshine and smiles to Lesley.
I tried to create a lava lamp but I am thinking it looks more tie-dyed. There is terrific challenge at TLC477 this week called Pointillism, I havenÂ’t really done enough dots to be true dot art, but I was inspired never the less!!
This background was created by spraying several Dylusions ink sprays on a large sheet of tin foil (saves cleaning my fancy ink mat – just throw the foil out when you finish). I digress, after spraying some ink, I spritzed the inks with water.
Next step, take a piece of card stock and swish/dab it through the ink/water. Check the card and turn around and redip into the ink puddle until you have the coverage desired. Stop here to get this smooth effect.
On other cards where I have used the Dylusions inks, I spritzed the finished inky cardstock with more water – it gives a great rainy sort of blotchy look. If you want an even soft finish, leave out this step like I did here.
This is heaps of fun to do but it is very messy. I tried to remove the ink from my hands by using a cut lemon dipped in sugar (I read that somewhere). ROTFIA …..this is my new acronym for Rolling On The Floor In Agony……I completely forgot about the 2” cut on the palm of my hand. That is a long story involving a very sharp knife and a butternut pumpkin. It seemed to happen in slow motion and I could hear my Mother saying “Don’t cut toward yourself Susan”. Oh that conversation took place in my head, Ma lives in the big retirement village in the sky.
Thank you for looking and have a wonderful day. I off to post this now.

What a fun card. The white dots make it feel like the little butterfly is fluttering from flower to flower. The bkg is beautiful...you sure have mastered the dylusion sprays. It definitly reminds me of lava lamps, and I am sort of an expert. Years ago both of my boys wanted one and they are hard to find. I looked at lava lamps on line for weeks. Great card.

Your adventures in stamping are the most fun (except the agony and holes in the wall you know). This is gorgeous and makes me want to get some tin foil out right now. Lovely work and lovely of you to make this to cheer up a sweet girl. Hugz!

I love the effect you got with all your spritzing and swiping! Looks fantastic..just like the 'tie-dye' shirt I wore in the 60's! ..er I mean the 80's when it was 'retro'..I am not that old..snork!! (fib alert!) Sorry you forgot about the cut on your hand too. I have had that same conversation with the Quaker..she has the room next to your Mum at that same retirement village.

Oh, Susie, you delight us all with your beautiful designs, and this one is gorgeous! And you also give us a chuckle to read how you've created it, and I'm SO sorry about your hand! Hope the pain has subsided! Yes, I can only imagine the pain (and your mom saying something like that - like all our moms do/did). Hugs, sweet sis!
