I am so excited to see my friend, jkanack in the spotlight as this weeks Featured Stamper! I had such a wonderful time perusing your gallery, Jean. I squealed quite a few times when I saw stamps we both had and how you had artfully gotten the best from them (and how I want to case YOU!!!)
I couldn't resist taking on your work of art. It is captivating, so much depth to the girl. Of course, I had to hip up my flower child. She rocks out to Janis, wears peasant blouses, and IS on her way to San Francisco...are you humming the tune????
I kept Jeans theme and the punched border and the spotlight frame over one eye. I changed the orientation of the pieces to be off center, added bolder colors and cut my Oscar Wilde quote to make it fit.
Have a blast today and all week, Jean, seeing the cards made in your honor. You are wonderfully creative and your art speaks to my heart.
editing to add how I created the girl. She was stamped with Stazon Jet Black onto acetate. I chose a small floral from BG 'lauderdale' to put under the girl. The back ground floral prints comes from 'sweet threads' and the solid punched border and the quote orange are from 'life of the party'. I really like the depth that I was able to achieve.

Thanks so much for joining me this Sunday, Susan! I LOVE your flower child! I hope it doesn't show my age too much, but I'm a huge Janis fan. She was a bit before my time, but I love her music and I especially love that she was a TX native, too.
Wow! Your colors, papers & image are fabulous! there isn't a single thing on your hip card that I don't love!!

Susan, I love the message on this wonderful card. I am old enough to remember Janis and her music. I put my latest wearable art on facebook today. Maybe I should load it over here just to see what kinds of comments I get.

Susan what a colorful card you have here. Reminded me of the flower children of the 60's. Great card to honor Jean with this week.

Well, this is just the perfect post. The two artsy-est crafters in the gallery and both with stunning works! I think your card is an awesome case of Jean's awesome work, Susan. And, yes, your card immediately made me think flower child! It all goes together so perfectly -the image of the girl, the psychedelic orange color, the metal frames and of course the flowers. Outstanding!
