Well, I don't often do the mixability challenge, because I am never sure how it's going to work. I cring at the idea of mutilating a book, even an old one, but I can pull a page out of a magazine with only a slight pang of guilt, so I took a magazine page and cut it down and layered it onto a piece of white CS for some sturdiness. Then I painted on two layers of gesso which made a lot of the printing disappear, so I sanded a bit of it off and you can sort of see the printing if you look close. Then I sponged on some Baked Brown sugar ink. I embossed the flower image and added a bit of walnut spray to the edges and then a bit of gold Smooch spray. I used a mask to create a ground line with some Midnight Muse ink and then added in some Cherry Cobbler ink in the sky area. I created some texture on my Midnight muse panel and sponged and sprayed. The button is a vintage button from an old button box of my Mom's.
REV: After I posted this I thought I wanted to ground everything a bit more and pull the two panels together, so I added some gold flakes that I had on the work table.
What do you think? I honestly can't tell if I like it or not. But I don't know if that really matters because I had fun making it!

Not only do I like this but I totally love it too! You do mixed media quite well. Love your idea of the magazine page with gesso and sanding. Wow! What an elegant card. TFS:0)

I really like what you have done here! The gold glitter was a great addition - it really gives a feel of sparkle and depth. I am with you on the book page tearing thing - so hard to do! Like you, I can just cope with a magazine page, if it is an old magazine! Anyway WELL DONE! The card looks amazing.

My goodness this is not only gorgeous but it is SO creative! Muted colors are my personal favorites and this one definitely has it! Your ideas and imagination pulled it together so beautifully! On top of that you added another personal favorite of mine, vintage buttons! This is fantastic and a favorite!

Straight into my favourites, I think this is wonderful. It looks like a canvas painting - I'm still trying to work out how you achieved that effect - I guess it's the sanded and sponged gesso. The gold flakes are a great addition. I hope you like it - but having fun is really what it's all about.

I love all the bits of gold on this and the texture of the blooms look 3-D to me too. I can see the text and the button is way cool. so, its an very interesting mix to me. I have a whole lot of things that I had fun doing "during" that I tilt my head side ways and squint at later I wouldn't worry about that part, because it's just paper and you could very well love the next thing you make trying similar things you played with here. I don't think I would have thought to sand the gesso down on a magazine page so that was a cool thing to read
