Happy Teapot Tuesday everyone. Marie gave us a fun story this week with the challenge to create transportation for kids. Our cards are going to SCSÂ’er Hotwheels aka Linda. Linda and her mum make cards to inspire kids. I hope we help add to their stash.
Before I write anymore, I should declare that I did NOT stamp or colour this card, (you probably already knew that) it is made from quiltersÂ’ fabric. Initially I traced the fabric, transferred it onto cardstock and then coloured it inÂ…Â…what a disaster, it seriously looked like a 3 year old did it. Hmmm what to do, time is not on our side this week so I had to improvise a bitÂ….ok, I actually cheated.
During my recent shopping trip to buy wall filler and sanding equipment for that now infamous hole in the wall incident, I came across builder’s strength double sided tape. It is 2” wide, super sticky and strong. I completely covered the fabric with the tape and then adhered cardstock to the other side. I cut out the side strips and centre piece using my craft blade and metal ruler, and shaped around some of the balloons with scissors. I made a centre step card with white card stock and then stuck the panels on.
The white squiggly circles are from my new Memory Box die. I had excess fabric already adhered with tape and cardstock so I put the whole lot in my Vagabond and tried to cut the squiggly die again. It didnÂ’t really work so I salvaged what did work and stuck it to the bottom of the two floating balloons to resemble ribbons.
In the spirit of creating “handmade” cards, I used Distress Inks to add a bit of shading to the hot air balloons and dabbed white paint on the white/grey clouds. It hasn’t really made much difference, but I feel better and hopefully the craft police will not pursue the matter. If the craft police do catch up with me, my finger prints will be interesting. I dabbled in mixed media yesterday, using my new Tim Holtz Alcohol inks and Mod Podge. Not much came off when I washed my hands, so I used nail polish remover and my sanding block. This is not a process I would recommend. Whilst removing the ink, I think I have also removed my finger prints!!! Actually it hurts to type so I shall sign off now and have a little lay down.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for looking.

I have a beautiful hot air balloon fabric similar to this, Susie! I totally forgot about it, too! What an experience to float quietly about the earth in a balloon! You created a beautiful Hot Air Balloon Festival, with this colorful card!
As to getting the alcohol inks off your hands, use the Alcohol Blending Solution or just plain old alcohol, both will do the job!

I guess now would be a good time to commit a crime, if you were so inclined, seeing as you don't have any fingerprints
This card is amazing Susie. These vibrantly coloured hot air balloons are gorgeous, and it doesn't matter that they are fabric. This card is still hand crafted and just so creative! Come to think of it.....I have some hot air balloon fabric in a drawer.......hmm!

Susie, this is just all kinds of super fun! Love how bright it is - the children will love it. Now that you've destroyed your finger prints, the craft police are left with circumstantial evidence - they can't prove a thing.
