Well, I guess if one is only going to post one card in a week, it better count. And although I really didn't plan it that way this card meets five challenges, WHOO HOO! They are: SC478 - sketch, WT469 "Go Green" - use green on your project, F4A11 "You Pick!" - use yellow, blue and another color of your choice, MIX58 "Washy Washy" - create a watercolor wash background, and IC431 "Rainy Inspiration".
The inspiration challenge got this one started. I had a new raindrop stencil from Prima, which led to rainbows, which led to watercolor washes, etc., etc. Y'all know how that works!
I started by stamping the sentiment on mixed media paper using VersaMark and heat embossing with clear ep. I scribbled over it with Gelatos and added water with a paintbrush to create the rainbow.
The card front was created using the raindrop stencil. I was on the verge of being upset when I realized I didn't have any clear gel medium or transparent embossing paste, but I do have Crafter's Pick glue that dries perfectly clear, and is easily removed from nonporous surfaces. I applied it in opposite corners using a plastic gift card. After that dried, I repeated the process over the rest of the card, adding fine transparent glitter while the glue was still wet. A word of advice if you try this - be prepared to work quickly, because the surface dries quickly and will create a film that is easily pulled out of your stenciled areas.
I cut the circle from the card front and backed it with a piece of yellow cs embossed with the CB Swiss Dot ef. the yellow piece lines the front of the card so it looks nice from the inside. I cut the sentiment with a smaller circle die, backed it with foam tape and attached it to the card.
Last but not least (for my poor bow-challenged self), I added the purple ribbon tied in a pretty decent bow, if I do say so myself!
As always, thanks for looking!
