One of my friends was nice enough to purchase 3 boxes of Girl Scout cookies over to my step-dad this weekend. Instead of paying him for the cookies, he asked me to make a thinking of you type card for his mother, who suffers from dementia. I so appreciated what he did and was so honored by his request, I told him that I would make one for each of the boxes and spread them out between now and the end of the year. This is the first card.
The focal image and sentiment are from Penny Black. In order to get a nice stamped image AND keep the edge white, I die cut my circle first and then, with the circle still in the die, I stamped the image. Colored with my Copics and added some sponging for the grass and the sky. Clouds were made using a hand-cut cloud shape.
The red panel is stamped with the SU canvas BG stamp. When I was cleaning my stamp closet, I found some pre-stamped leftover card bases from a Christmas card a few years back. Cut the panel from one of them. The dotted DSP was also in my scrap box.
The enamel dot was not quite the color I wanted, so I used a Copic marker to match it to the red in the card.
Used a clear Spica pen on the hedgie's needes, butterflies and poppy centers for a wee bit of sparkle.

What an adorable image so beautifully colored. Such a thoughtful gift idea by your step-dad and a fun card for you to make and share. Hugs to you both :-) TFS Debbie
