Wonderful colors for todayÂ’s Color Challenge! I thought these bold jewel tones would be terrific with this fabulous pair of ruby slippers. I made this card for my daughterÂ’s birthday Â…she has a shoe collection larger than a lot of shoe stores, lol. And IÂ’ve loved this image since I first laid eyes on it and IÂ’ve been wanting to color it for a while now.
I started to put glitter on the shoes, then thought no, I spent too long coloring them to cover it up. Also, I had to some yellow/gold to the mix because the shoes just called for it. The clockworks gears were stamped separately and I cut around some to insert the main image and added a few cut out gears on top.
The finished card is 6 x 4.50. Note, I also used the pale olive & marine green to shade the gold as well as the traditional yellow/gold colors.
Thanks so much for looking! It's just been posted on my blog w/ closeup and the colors of Copics I used. The Write Stuff

Beautiful words to ponder upon, Julie! Gorgeous coloring and I don't blame you for not wanting to cover it up! You used these colors in such a wonderful way today~

Fabulous card with the colors, Julie. Those are some ruby slippers....and your coloring of EVERYTHING is fantastic. Sort of a "steam punk gone elegant" feeling.

Love those steampunk shoes and the way you embellished this! What a lot of fussy cutting you must have had to do! Great card! What an awesome job you did coloring it, shadowing even the nailheads in the toe!
