Happy Anniversary TLC challenge!! I figured that with this vellum challenge (to emboss on vellum) the gallery today would be a garden of lovely flowers. Well, you know me, I had to do something different. I heat embossed the ship, then sponged teal on the back to look like water. Because I'm also using vellum as my background (yes, that map is printed vellum) I decided to mount the ship on some cream colored cardstock so it would show off. The cheesecloth on the bottom was dyed using some distress ink. I think this ship kind of reminds me of the Titanic..and I kind of wanted to include that in my title but I don't want to jinx it for whomever receives this card. **wink**

Love this, Polly. I know I say that to you constantly, but I'm endlessly amazed at the way you combine materials. This card has a wonderful color palette and you've framed out your ship so interestingly. The burlap and that looped twine along the top is a great touch! They really establish a vintage tone.

Just don't mention the "Titanic"...and your fine, Polly. The travelers will be thrilled to receive a Bon Voyage card. Love the various ways that you used the vellum....including the map for a bg. And, of course, your personal accents like the dyed cheesecloth for texture and interest.

You combine elements and have ideas that would never occur to me! I love your use of the vellum and the map is vellum? I also love the cheesecloth and the creative way you looped the twine at the top!

Oh gosh - I bet that map vellum is totally wonderful in real life. I love printed vellum, but as you too seem to have found, it can be hard to show it off well :-(. Love the cheesecloth and the feel of the boat surging forward through the waves.
