I found a sketch book that someone had given me. The paper is fairly thin, but when I apply gesso to both sides of the paper, I'm thinking it will be good for mixed media projects. I have decided that I will make my 2014 Bible Verse Challenge projects in mixed media. This is for the verse I learned in February. I did this week's mixed media challenge to use the kintsukuroi technique....to tear an item and repair it with a beautiful joining (gold or other wise) I used a copper pearl pen to draw lines on two stars. I started out by layering the page with gesso, then using a mask to apply a dull rose acrylic paint in the lower left. The mask did not work well, so you really can't see the honeycomb effect. Tried the same thing with black paint and a smaller star mask with the same results. Then I applied gelatos directly all over the page, sprayed with water and rubbed over it all with my fingers to blend, Sprayed a bit more water to make it run. When dry, I stamped a couple of St Anne's Lace images in black and also randomly stamped a bit of a diamond bg stamp. The Bible verses are computer generated and cut out, then run through my Xyron and adhered to black cs. Sprayed with perfect pearls mist by Ranger in copper. I tried to ink the first part with Ranger vintage photo in, but I didn't like the look, so left the other two panels white. Die cut several stars. The orange on is from a bubble envelope and used Ranger distress paint and then put on lines of the Viva pearl pen in copper. The other two were cut out of a paper bag. I also used a star border punch and used the tiny stars that are left over as well as little curved edges seen at the upper left. It's really hard to stop adding things once you have started!
