This pattern by Stitchingcards.com is of a cute backhoe. It's perfect for a little boy, such as my soon to be 5 year old DGS.
Now on this pattern there is no framing around the windows or loader arm and bucket. I wanted a more finished look, so did the framing. It looks so much better this way.
I added the layers of dp and grass, making it look like the backhoe was working on a hillside. The little puffs of smoke from the exhaust pipe were the Dh's idea.
The sentiment looks like it's on an upside down canoe. That's my boo boo, as I printed the sentiment on the same sheet of c/s I used for the cardbase, so there wasn't enough room for the die I really wanted to use. Luckily, hopefully, the 5 year old DGS will never know, though he's a pretty smart little boy! I had to make and extra piece of grass and tried to seam it together flawlessly, the key word here being tried.
Now I'm going to do another card similar to this for a friend and her 5 year old DGS. This time I know what and what not to do!
Thank you for the gift of this pattern, Kim C.!!

Stacy this is cute. I can't imagine trying to sew this on a card. I have difficult time just sewing a straight line. I really like the way you created hillside with the torn paper - nice. And DH's idea of puffed smoke (good idea). I think this is going to be loved by the 5 year old DGS!

I LOVE THIS! What a wonderful card for the DGS. Your love shows through the time and work you spent creating this fabulous birthday card! I love that you even created puffs of exhaust - non-hazardous.

Jennifer, your stitchery leaves me breathless. This b'day card for a 5-yr old is BEAUTIFUL, yet perfect for a young man. Love the designs in your backhoe and how you created a scene around it. Your work is like no others.

Oh my goodness, a little stitched backhoe, that's the most creative thing I've seen in the galleries in a long time! Sweet, fun, and so perfect for your little grandson, I can tell you get a lot of pleasure from your crafting - it really comes through, that and a lot of love!

Jennifer -- WOW WOW WOW -- this has come up fantastic. I am so glad you got to make it first -- now I can see how good it looks. I will have to make one for my neighbour son. He will be 22 but he has his own very large digger. Thank you again for the stunning threads you sent me and no I did not have any of those colours. xxxx
