Birgit's MIX54 challenge is to use hearts.
I don't really use Valentine's cards since DH doesn't mark the day, and giving them generally isn't part of the culture here. But I thought I could use the challenge to make an overdue thank -you card .
I punched the hearts from one of my failed OLC cards from Monday's TLC which went into the scrap pile, and added a calyx using a daisy punch, and wire stems.
The vase was punched from white card with the SU ornament punch and then stamped with IO's Reverse Damask in black.
I scored along the bottom of the card above and below the sentiment.
I cut a deckle rectangle and used that as a reverse mask to sponge my stencil with Pumice Stone. To make it mixed media I added some blue chalk after removing the stencil.

i love all the texture in this card! my eyes go right to the hearts, and then dance around to look at the vase and the rich background. i catch the heart-felt sentiment, and end up right at the heart flowers again. so sweet. lovely

WOW Sabrina, what a pretty card. Love the simplicity of it. Your bg is perfect for your vase and tiny hearts. That scoring adds so much. What a wonderfully designed and well done card. TFS :0)

Such a striking card. The heart flowers are so adorable and the striking black print vase is awesome. Your bkg came out beautiful. The scored lines at the bottom complete this very pretty creation.

What an awesome background and innovative approach to the challenge! I love how you made the vase out of an ornament! Your stenciled background is fantastic and caught my eye in those wonderful colors!
