Ky's MIX53 challenge this week is all about layers on our card, and she suggested two tutorials in Resources. Well - I had tried the acrylic batik and ended up with something which wasn't fit for a card-front, but I used that for my flowers and butterfly, and reverted to the Layered Gesso Background for my card base.
White card, gesso, stamped with French foliage leaf and splash in Smokey Grey. Added pale green acrylic paint. Mixed Modelling Paste with some white acrylic and used the TCW Basketweave stencil. This is one I thought I was going to purge, but it works so much better with paste than with ink, so it's back in the keeping pile. I rubbed in some luster rub-on and that was the background. Added some leaves cut from drywall mesh tape, painted over them with Liquid Pearls. When dry, added Stickles and some detailing with more Liquid Pearls. Added my punched flowers with pearl centres, and a butterfly. It's layered on some black card which was embossed, rubbed with a white luster rub-on and then flattened.
I added a sentiment from HA stamped in StazOn Stone Grey, and then just added some Liquid Pearls and sequins to finish off.

Wow Sabrina this looks amazing, I love the colours and all the elements. The little dots of scattered liquid pearls look beautiful. Thank you for such a detailed description. Thanks too to DH - I'm awake LOL.

I think this is amazing! You've obviously put a lot of effort into it. I really love the batik showing through in your flowers, and I agree - so many times it's the texture paste that saves the stencil. That filigree butterfly is the perfect accent. Thanks so much for playing the Mix-ability challenge!

Gee, now my curiosity is up - I would have loved to have seen the purple piece before you cut it, because the flowers look really cool. You made the right choice by keeping the stencil - it looks terrific here!
