Today's challenge is to start something that we've been meaning to get to. Well, let me tell ya, I qualify for this one! My DIL got me an Ancestry leather scrapbook about 6 or 7 years ago. Now, I must admit, I did use the 3 month free Ancestry.com that came with it...and then signed up for another year. I have done untold hours of research and gone back to the 1600's on my mom's side...just back to the 1800's on my dad's side.
Now, if that isn't procrastination, I don't know what is! But, I have a reason...I hate scrap-booking!
These pages represent where my memories of my family begin (I have so many more generations with photos...hope I live long enough!)....but, I'm going to work forward from my great-grandparents and see if I can finally do it.
That's my long story and I'm sticking with it....and, I must admit it's not an awesome feeling, but it's a good feeling to finally begin!
Hope you're having a wonderful day...btw, this took me about 2 hours...that's how bad I am at this!

I can relate to your ancestry.com story, Vicky. I had always said that, when I retire, I was going to get serious about searching my roots through ancestry.com. I bought the software and paid for an additional year. And it still sits!!! I did get to meet a fourth cousin who lives in Florida -- and we still communicate, so it wasn't a total loss. Your scrapbook page is very nice -- also not my cup of tea!

Vicky, this page tells of untold hours of work in research, organization, and careful planning. You will have something precious to pass down to your children. I think you did a terrific page...nice antique quality to it to go with the old photos.

A few years ago I did this, and my grands love to look at all the old pictures (Mom's side to 1644, Dad's in Sweden to only 1805!). I did my dh's side as well as my own, and wrote about what the pictures showed (good AND bad). This is a wonderful start...keep it going!!

I don't like scrapbooking either. I did one wedding and the bridesmaids dresses were blue, which limited the colours I used to blue or stuff that goes with blue. I was sick of it by the time I was done. Plus, it was just really hard. This page looks like at least 2 hours work to me!! Very impressed that you got a start...they say 'once begun, it's half done'....good luck with it!!!

...sure its got a catchy beat, but can you stamp to it?

This is such a worthwhile goal and I hope you are able to complete it! This page is wonderful! After my Mom passed away we found a box full of old photos. Sadly they had been attacked by mold. I bought a photo restoration program and spent almost a year restoring 95% of the photos. I then copied them all on discs and gave copies to my 4 siblings, their 13 offspring and 9 cousins. I also made 4 scrapbooks with them.

Great project, Vicky. My BIL is over from Australia at the moment and taking the opportunity to put in some more research on his family tree. I think he's a bit shocked at how blasé I am about our family, with all the research that's already been done for me. Old photos are fascinating, too - the clothes, and those stiff poses!

Wow! Vicky, you have done so well so far - I love looking at old photos. I adore the idea of scrapbooking and have started one each for my Grands - so I am going to add your resolution to mine and make an effort to get some more pages done.

Vicky, your scrapbook pages are lovely. They have the true heritage look. Keep it up, this will be an heirloom for your family. I scrapbooked before cardmaking....two hours is not long at all. I remember spending up to five to six hours on a page. Especially if you are doing a large amount of journaling. Thanks for the inspiration.....need to get back to some scrapbooking. You had to feel good when they were completed.

Good for you Vicky!!! I have gone back to the 1500s on 3 grandparents sides, but the line is not findable on my mother's mother!!! Grrrr! I do know I am a daughter of the Revolution on 3 counts though! It was fun but I don't have the photos...wish I did!!! I love what you did to scrap your pics and I hope you can keep at it!
