This is for Kathleen's awesome challenge to honor our elders today with bonus points for going vintage and/or using gold. I thought right away about making a card in honor of my dad. He has always been a great example to me and has taught me much, but he has really been an incredible care giver to my mom throughout her cancer journey.
I know the skyscrapers don't really go with my vintage theme, but Chicago has been a huge part of my parents' lives over the past 50+ years. I used Gesso mixed with a bit of Espresso paint to age my map page. I crumpled and sponged adding a bit of gold along the edges. Rolled my texture wheel and then added my vintage vehicles. I stamped a compass rose in stamped off Riding Hood Red then embossed my sentiment over that-I used a Versamarker to omit part of the sentiment. I also embossed the gold frame. I added my twine and button. It still looked like it needed a little something, so I dug up this sentiment from my stash and after distressing the edges a bit, threw it on.

LOVE your fantastic vintage card Gail!!! (I had to look it up, but the first skyscraper was built in Chicago in 1884-85, sounds vintage to me!) And you even have Chicago on your card! Love all the torn edges and gold edges gives you extra points! Excellent collage of stamps too! Thank you so much for sharing about your Dad and how much you love and admire him! His being a good care-giver to your Mom during her cancer battle speaks volumes! Thank you again for honoring your father and sharing a bit of him with all of us!!!

WOW! Just WOW! What an awesome combination of elements and stamps and what a fabulous vintage card. I always love reading your ingenious techniques. Your embellishments are so perfect for this and as a tribute to your dad, that sentiment is wonderful.
