Misti challenged us to make a card for yesterday's HYCCT challengeusing the colors of someone we know who has or has had cancer...I could make a rainbow card unfortunately, but I went with Burgundy and Ivory for a spouse of a church member who is in the end stages of Throat cancer, Burgundy for my dear cousin Jeff who died in his early 20's of Multiple Myeloma which is also the cancer that a friend continues to battle (he is in remission currently!) and the black is for a long time Navy friend of DH's and mine who died so very quickly last spring from Melanoma. The one thing all these people had in common was great marriages so I thought an anniversary card that a current patient could use was an appropriate honor.
I am also playing along in today's Technique Challenge to make your own stencil. I used a Quick Cutz die to cut a transparency sheet and laid it over a piece of burgundy cs. I sponged Very Vanilla craft ink through the stencil. I then inked part of my French Script bg stamp with the same ink and laid my piece onto it and pressed the script over parts of the cs. I embossed the distress ep and then rubbed off parts of it. My sentiment is done the same way. I added a ribbon with a brad bow.

I am blown away by that hand done background. Surely you jest. It looks like DP! I am not worthy--seriously. It is gorgeous. I am saddened by all the times cancer has touched your life. It stinks, it truly does. Beautiful thoughts from a beautiful person in a beautiful card.

WOW I love this! That background is something else and I too thought it was all designer paper! What a great card and what a thoughtful one to sent. So sorry for all the people in your life who have had to fight this awful disease!
