My oldest DS is getting the opportunity to go to a book signing of an author that he loves and whose work he introduced me to as well. Rainbow writes great young adult books and has a new one that just came out called Fangirl. He is going to get a chance to have coffee with her after the book signing, and he asked me if I wanted to send a card along for her in order to share what I love to do with her since I've enjoyed what she loves to do. Well, when he asked like that what could I say but OF COURSE!
I had this piece of book dp that was a gift from a friend and knew I wanted to feature that so I launched from there. The dp was just the right colors and I decided to emboss then sand it for added depth. The sentiment is stamped on the back side of the same dp. I stamped the sentiment in Midnight Muse and the leaves in Always Artichoke. I distressed the edges of the dp pieces and added a piece of chunky twine. I popped the layered sentiment over that. I had the scrap of branches and the little bird in my "leftovers" pile so I added those along with the punched music notes. Part of what I wrote to Rainbow is that her fresh writing is a voice that this generation of kids can be encouraged by.
