I had the scraps on my desk from yesterday's color challenge, so I decided to use the scraps on this card. I had a lot of fun on this mixed media card. The "blue" panel on my card started as a white piece of cardstock. I did direct inkpad to paper with Night of Navy. I swiped it several times. Then I took cream colored acrylic paint and painted randomly. Then I direct inkpad to paper with Night of Navy over the paint. Then I used Night of Navy ink and Mark's Finest Papers CRACKED HELLO background stamp. I then used that same stamp to stamp with white ink. I also used black ink with the same stamp. Then I used that same stamp with the cream colored acrylic paint. I made sure to wash it right way. The result was a really cool distressed textured looking panel. I added lace and burlap fabric to the long skinny panels. I added a twine bow and quilled roses and then I just had to add two half butterflies. I stamped the sentiment using black stazon. The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers set called WELCOME POPPIES.

What a beautiful background you made. Sounded like a lot of work. Your card has such a wide variety of textures and element. Well done.

OMgoodness!!!!!!! This is by far my new favorite card of yours. Your blurb just made me laugh out loud...for real. I have to go back and see how many layers you did....and you washed it right away. I love the mixed panel, the gorgeous butterflies, the burlap is awesome with the lace and your quilled roses are the absolute perfect finishing touch.

How interesting and cool this card is. I just have not gotten onto the mixed media band wagon, but I do like the look. And this one is super fantastic!!!

This is SO gorgeous MariLynn!!! Pam and I were drooling over it as we talked about your beautiful quilled roses. I am in awe at how much work you do to achieve some of your results. That denim looking panel is so gorgeous. If I didn't read what you wrote, I might assume it was dp. Your roses are so precious and now you have caused others to wonder how they were done. I started to look at a video on line. I saw the word "patience" and kind of cringed. I will keep it on my list of things to try along with Karen Barber's marker blending. :>) Your cards become more beautiful by the day. The butterflies are gorgeous too.
