A deceptively simple project for such a big meaning! This "day of remembrance" project is for my DD15, who was diagnosed with type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetes at the age of 7 1/2. Like most people, I was more familiar with the lifestyle-related type 2 diabetes and knew little about this autoimmune kind - it was a fast education those few days we spent at the hospital! Then started the finger pricks, insulin injections, counting carbs, learning all about low GI, etc etc. DD took it all in her stride and from early on was managing everything herself with minimal input from us! Now she has been on an insulin pump for 4 years and loves it and even though we've had a few trips to the hospital, she so lives up to this month's quote from Steve Maraboli - she doesn't let her disease rule her life, she lives with it on her terms. I admire and love her so much! This is a little purse of jelly beans, which she takes when she has a hypo (hypoglycaemia) and her blood glucose levels drop too low. I made it from clear window sheet so the gorgeous colours of the jelly beans would show and added a retired jelly bean brad at the front which has tiny love hearts - to show my love and support for her each step of the way. Thanks for looking!

This is so pretty and a great way to showcase the embossing on the window sheet and the colourful jelly beans inside.
Thanks so much for sharing your daughter's story with us.

I am so glad that your daughter is living with her diabetes!!!! It is so hard on kids! I love the idea of having a fun way to carry the jelly beans! Amazing project!!!!
