My birth sister and I were put into foster care when I was 2 1/2, and for about 2 years remained together. I ended up being adopted though, and she wasn't. We reconnected about 4 or 5 years ago at her first wedding, and I was introduced to two younger sisters and a younger brother.
I was not happy growing up, and I often find myself wondering "what if we'd been able to grow up as a real family?". Then I get to thinking though - I may not have those memories, but we can make new ones, even if what I have with all but the youngest is a friendship, rather than sister-ship. I consider myself lucky to be able to call them family though, they are all such incredible people, and my oldest sister became a mother last year, and she gets to create memories with her little boy now, and any more who come along. So this card is, to a certain extent, an homage to her, the memories that I did get to have of her, and the memories still to come.

What a fabulous image & card. TFS.
We don't get to choose our family dynamics as a child but can make different choices as adults. I, too, am doing things differently - sometimes better, sometimes not. Make your own path & memories & leave the past in the past if you can. God bless.

What a sweet scene of children on the beach! I believe you are right. You can't turn back the time but you can spend the "here and now" cultivating your relationship with your sisters and brother. TFS your story. Blessings to you.

You can learn as you get older what should have or could have been but cannot change---you survive it--just like a cancer. Glad you found your sister and other family members too. Sweet card and a great image. Glad you made it to the tea party.
I believe it is never too late to have a happy childhood. I hope you & your sister make many new memories. I love that the dog came to the beach with the family. A very touching card and so is your experience.
