This is for Mixabilty Challenge 20 - ACK!! Black?? Actually, for me this challenge was called ACK!! Shading?? I don't draw or paint very well, and shading is something I can do only at the most basic level. I have to say, Dini, that I particularly enjoyed this week's tutorial video - I was on the floor laughing as you took that flat flower outline image and blithely painted it (twice!) so that it magically became completely and beautifully dimensional because NO PROBLEM! I'LL GET RIGHT ON THAT! :-0!
But I have this great daisy image from Paper Artsy which doesn't lend itself to any kid of realistic treatment anyway, and it also has shading on it, so I was able to do a sort of rough attempt at some shading using Memento Tuxedo Black. I painted in a BG using Shabby Shutters Distress Ink, and then went around the flower using a Prisma pencil in a bright light green. Then I did the drywall tape trick using Colorbox Aquamarine chalk ink and stamped one of my Lily of the Valley Grunge Border stamps along the edge in Crumbcake. The lace was done with the PTI Filigree die, cut out of the ugliest wrinkle free distress piece I ever made and never thought I'd ever use, and the button is a paper button (SU Button Button) cut out of a PTI coaster (those things are so great for buttons!) which was lying around and had been colored with Distress Ink in Ripe Persimmon, so just needed a bit of Mustard Seed sponged over it to make it more orangey. All mounted on PTI's Winter Wisteria.
Thanks for looking!

Rachel I LOVE your "ugly distress piece" border! It really adds pizazz to your card! The yellow-green bg is fabulous and really lends itself to showcase your black-gray shaded flower..you rocked this challenge

Love the pop of color from your border...definitely not ugly! It's so hard to challenge ourselves and you've really shown what you can accomplish by forging ahead. Great card!

I don't think the border is ugly now, but you should have seen the piece I cut it out of. Hideous! I saved it because those failed pieces usually do make interesting die cuts.

LOL!! All right missy, settle down... you did great! That is a fun image and you created some depth with it... the border and button are really well balanced, and bring out your fun background, especially the mesh tape bits. I think it's a WIN! Thank you so much for playing along!

I laughed out loud about your ugly distress piece - I have a few hideous Gelli prints that you've inspired me to keep!
Your card is awesome as always! Super color combinations and the daisy just draws you in... Very cool!

Oh, I SO enjoy your write-ups, Rachel! (snicker) I adore that pretty red button, and it works so well with the lacy side border......perfect use of the twine and the bg looks pretty hippie....like way out there momma! You did very well with this challenge~
