Toni's challenge for the WT today was to make a one-layer card. I know I cheated by mounting my panel on the card base. Many times cards are made and go into my stash to have on hand for various occasions. In this case, I knew my card had to feature this SU image and was made for special friends.
Yesterday I went with a couple who are dear friends, as well as well-versed naturalists, to one of St Louis' treasures...Shaw's Nature Reserve in Gray Summit. The wild flowers were blooming in profusion in the glades and woodlands. Acres and acres of cone flowers(Echinacea) in their magenta glory. It truly was a sight to behold. Besides these flowers, there were wild roses, white lobelia, evening primrose, larkspur, yellow daisy-like blooms, on and on. This card will be their thank you. The lady of the couple also hand makes papers, does paper marbling, and watercolors. We had talked about the Gelli Plate for monoprinting and I wanted that to be the base so she could see an example(albeit a simple one).

Sallie, that's such a beautiful card - and it sounds like a wonderful day out that you had, too! The gelli print makes a beautiful soft background for one of my favourite stamps.
