I used Jeanne's easy cloud tutorial to smudge some clouds on soft sky for my background - I used Whisper White craft ink instead of paint so they were more subtle. Then I colored the vermilion with Inktense pencils and an aquapainter, accented him with a white gel pen, and it's hard to see here, but I covered him with Crystal effects.
I used the Apothecary Accents die to cut a piece of Fan Fair DSP and then mounted that on a scrap I had from making Gelli Plate backgrounds, and then onto Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.
I thought it would be super fun for the Red White and Blue VSN challenge to make mine sort of a non-traditional red white and blue. I had originally thought I'd make a patriotic card, but luckily in my mess of a studio, this little bird was sitting on the floor looking at me, and my idea came together really fast!
Thanks for looking - if you're not playing along with VSN yet - what are you waiting for? Come stamp with us!

Oooh, I love this! The fan paper is gorgeous, and I always love birds. I do believe I see the Glossy Accents, too . What a happy, sunny card, Lydia. We've had so much blue sky here this week I'll even take the clouds!!!
