sketch challenge luv, Korin...just what I needed today as I *HAD* to have get a very last day of high school encouragement card on &D's plate (before the breakfast burrito he inhaled). Funny, but seniors who are walking tomorrow night still have finals the day before???? I mean they already must have the diplomas lettered with the students names despite how well they do on the tests today, right?????
I've used this Hampton Art Stamp before with our son Sam...journal words to live by and it's been on my mind to make Andy a special card. Todays sketch challenge was perfect!
I used a vintage playing card for the Jack of Diamonds, Making Memories *&* rub-on, a metal *D* brad. Various Spellbinder dies for the shapes and an upcycled *bricked* acetate layer.
Andy loves European graffiti art, so I wanted to include a brick wall. We have lively debates about what is art and the deFACING of someone else's property. He has introduced me to some of the better known graffiti artists and I have to say they are quite talented, not only in the actual art, but in the expression of what they 'believe in'. Not that I agree with everything, but as an artist, I recognize the merits of the work.
I adore the positive quotes that make up the journal stamp...so much good positive input. To size the image for the sketch, I had to cut off an Arthur Ashe quote:
"From what we get we make a living, from what we
give we make a LIFE."
It is my {HEarts} desire that &D's life nourishes a garden of dreams unto harvest! Thank you for leaving your words of wisdom and the gift of your time.

This is so amazing! I love all the details that are tucked and peeking out. There is so much to see and it's all beautiful! I love the story that goes along with it as well!

Just resting my brain for a moment and wanted to see what was posted for yesterday's challenge. Glad I did. It's nice to see how well your work is received here, Susan. We remember you by your distinctive, uplifting designs. I hope Andy has a joyous time as moves out of high school and looks ahead. I know he will appreciate each and every thing about this card, designed just for him. Congrats on your #2 son's HS graduation.
