This is one of my projects for the MIX18 challenge, to make a simple design with markers or paint
and then outline the shape with a fine black or white pen. You can use your shapes to create a background or a focal image.
I didn't actually create the shapes on either of my projects. They were created on the paper towels that I used to wipe brushes and clean my craft mat.
I thought they were interesting on their own, but the longer I looked, I could see patterns emerge.
Other than the outlines, the only thing I added was a piece of book page behind the torn corner of the paper towel. After I adhered the paper towel on top, the text was much more clear than I wanted, so I applied a little gesso with my finger. I used Mod Podge to adhere and seal the paper towel, and it created a pretty cool texture on the surface of the towel, but I don't think it shows very well in the photo.
As always, thanks for looking!

Wow! So glad you explained how you got this BG because it makes the piece all the more... AMAZING! It's just gorgeous - hard to believe you didn't set out to create that beautiful pattern! And your hand drawing on it is fabulous! Love it!

I was intrigued both by the thumbnail and your title... peonies are one of my favorite flowers, and this one is gorgeous! The technique you used to achieve this masterpiece is absolutely mind-blowing... kudos for your creativity and cleverness!
