I took the minimalist route for the Mix15 challenge, using only two pieces of dsp for the scene plus one for the sentiment. They are all scraps, however, and sponged, then adhered and sealed with Mod Podge. I did tear the brown dsp where the land meets the sky. I cut all the edges with a zig zag rotary cutter and sponged them.
After adhering the two dsps, my scene was created more with stamps than papers. The blue dsp has speckles of darker blue and looked like a gloomy sky, so I used my rain stamp to make it look like a pretty heavy rain. Since the trees are bare, I left the ground fairly bare also with just a few scraggly grasses growing (inked with cajun craze then used a marker for the green). Added a pile of boulders to one side (under the sentiment). A lone hawk is soaring overhead through the rain. I used colored pencils to darken the bottoms of the tree trunks and also on the boulders.
I think I missed the mark on this challenge, but I do like the card. I like the look of the Mod Podge surface, but it does tend to curl the card. Hopefully mailing it will help flatten it somewhat. Some may say this is a gloomy, depressing scene, but I like gray days like this. I find them comforting and relaxing.

Val, this is so pretty! I love what you did for the sky/rain, and the trees look wonderful in the setting you created. Maybe you will inspire Mother Nature to send us some real rain, lol!

I think your card is so beautiful!!! LOVE your eagle soaring in the misty sky! Your colors are fantastic!!! I think it is so much harder to make "bare" trees pretty, yet your card is so lovely, into my favorites!!!

Like the rain, the hills, the lone bird, the sponging, the colors... OK, everything. You have created one of those special winter bird watching days set amongst our post oaks and clay soil.

I don't find it gloomy at all, Val! I love it!
