For her VSN challenge, Tammie (Tammie E) asked us to make a card showing our favorite way to beat the heat during the dog days of summer. My favorite way is to stay indoors with the A/C on, but I thought an ugly gray box (the A/C unit) wouldn't make a nice card, so I resorted to the old fashioned way - of using a hand held fan.
When I got the idea, I went on Pinterest for inspiration and found tons of wonderful ways to make fans! I'm going to have go back and try some of those later. I chose a really simple fan idea, but spent most of my allotted time sizing and cutting the individual fan panels. I started by die-cutting some hearts and cutting them in half, but still had to do a lot of cutting to get them just right. (Why oh why didn't I use the available template?!) Then I had to lay them out so they would fit on an A-2 card which also took longer than it should have. The white dsp has a little sheen that doesn't show up in the photo.
I had at least a minute left, so added these pretty blue rhinestones that I got free with an order from Simon Says Stamp.

Your fan is beautiful, Val!
I remember going to a May Day wedding in Barcelona a few years back, and it was so hot in the marquee that most of the ladies had fans out - I was wishing I had one! Well done on bringing this beauty in in under 45 minutes.
