This is for the MIX12 challenge, to use all cool colors and then add a "pop" of warm color to your project... --OR-- use all warm colors and then add a "pop" of cool color to your project. I chose to create a "cool" background and add "warm", although it might be more than just a pop, lol.
The first layer of the background is acrylic paint. I didn't have any gray, so I scribbled some black Gelato on my craft mat and mixed it with white acrylic. I added some purple and more white, swirled with my finger, and put my watercolor paper in it. I ran a brayer over it to pick up as much of the paint as I could. I scribbled some blue metallic and green Gelato in the blank spaces and spread them around with a wet finger. Inked up a small piece of bubble wrap with green chalk ink and placed it down in the upper left corner. I added a faint black harlequin border using Black Soot Distress Ink and a Crafters Workshop stencil. I used the same stencil and cream acrylic over the rest of the piece.
I stamped the Fiskars Petals From Scratch flowers in orange pigment ink and painted them in with a paintbrush and the same ink. They were overstamped with VersaFine Onyx Black, and more color added with colored pencils to add vibrance. The stems and leaves are colored with colored pencils. To add a little pizzazz, I used yellow Stardust Gelli Roll pen in the flower centers and painted a light coat of shimmer watercolor over the petals. I wish it showed in the picture -
As always, thanks for looking!

Your harlequin background is so AMAZING!!! Those flowers are really FUN! I have that same set and end up using the leaves all the time, but I have to say, your coloring REALLY makes those flowers pop! LOVE your card, makes me think of my niece who turns 18 on Wednesday : )
WoW what a fabulous MIXED piece! The layers you created are fantastic...love your background. I had the same flowers sitting on my desk this morning to work on this challenge. So glad I got interruped LOL! I am happy I tried to other new stamps. Thanks for sharing your details!
