This is for Mixability Challenge #11 - Frame It. We were challenged to use a scrap die cut as either a stencil or a frame and then add color to the card. This card started with the blue card front, which had a Nestabilities "Fleur De Lis Square" shaped hole in it and was lying in a pile of cardstock bits and pieces, waiting to be sorted, on my table. (I know we were supposed to fish something out of the trash, but I don't throw stuff away, really, unless it's absolutely useless.) I decided the lovely shape of the negative space would be my frame. I stamped the blue card front with my Swirls Cover-A-Card stamp in Versamark, and then stamped some script in white on a scrap of black card stock and glued it behind the opening. Then I stamped one of my new Paper Artsy stamps - this one is called "Movie Star" - and did some simple coloring. She got cut out and angled into the opening and glued. She is actually the only thing on this card that isn't a scrap! I found the leaves and flowers in one of the small plastic containers full of unused/discarded odds and ends that I have on my desk, and I thought they worked nicely with with the image. Some white satin ribbon, and that was that. Of course only when I was totally done did I realize that, yes, I glued in the black piece with the script on it upside down! Oh well.... Let's say I did it purposely!
Thanks for looking!

I'm fascinated by the result of using the negative of the fleur de lis - it looks like a fractal image. I always cut my dies from the minimum amount of card, so I'd never end up with a frame like this unless I set out to do it. I also like the way the ribbon frames the frame - especially with the bottom leaf curling under it.

Rachel, I just love this! Great image framed with the beautiful negative cut. Nice touch using the script on the bg, even if it is upside down (been there, done that, lol)
