Janelle's MixAbility challenge today was an interesting one. We were to retrieve a scrap negative die-cut and use it either to stencil or as a window with colour behind it. I wanted to try the latter, because I do often use negatives for stencilling.
Two problems - I'd just emptied my paper bin for recycling, and I am very frugal with how I cut dies, always as close to edges as possible. But I got lucky and did find a negative from Spellbinders Foliage, and being quite a big shape I was able to get a good rectangle from it.
I took a scrap of white, stamped the log from Open Sea on it and sponged across with autumn leaf colours.
Next problem - the deep green might have been fine for leaves in a spray of flowers but it was darn hard to work with for a panel for a card! I embossed it with Floral Screen and sponged it with Sepia but that didn't do much for it. I then added some Amber luster rub-ons, and that muted it enough and helped it tie in with the slightly metallic textured paper I'd chosen.
Matted on black, alternate corners rounded and some hemp to finish it off.
It needs something else, but none of the buttons or beads I tried worked, so this is it for today.

I don't think it needs a thing! All that wonderful lustre and texture is embellishment enough. Beautiful card!

Sabrina, this is a great card! So much texture, wonderful colors, nice layout... I think it's all there, but if you find what's missing, I'd sure like to know!
