Scrapbook Focus for the April 2013 Creative Crew Challenge is to Punch it out - make punches the focus of your scrapbook page by using a punch in a new way or using MDS if you haven't before. I cheated a little - I used MDS, even though I have before ;) But I did challenge myself to use punches in my creating. I actually often forget about them as there are so many great tools and embellishments in MDS!
I used FOUR punches on this layout - tall heart, Labels & Tags/Get It Done punch 1, Jewelry Tag, and Pinking Hearts Border punch. I was going to use the alphabet punches to do my title, using the same technique I used with the Spring Fever stamp - tone on tone title. I love the look, and I saw it somewhere recently and tucked it in my memory to use soon on a page.
The other really fun technique I used was to make my background plain whisper white. Then I added the wood grain overlay from Natural Compositions Overlays, and then a 12x12 photo box filled with DSP, and lightened the opacity until the wood grain showed through. FUN technique!
I used the April Showers Download kit from 3/26/2013. LOVE it! So sweet, and great colors!
Finally, my sketch came from Dec 2011 Scrapbooks, Etc p.24

There are fun techniques that can be used in digital scrapping that is very hard if not impossible to recreate with traditional. I too love the wood tone under the dp. Well done as always!!
