It has been a really sad day. My DH and I lost a good friend who's been in DH's life for 30 years. He was such a good man and leaves behind a wife and 2 daughters the ages of two of my oldest kids. I wanted to make a special sympathy card for Cindy and loved the look of the cherry blossoms on this pretty teapot. I started with Tim Holtz bird on branch die which I cut in Soft Suede then cut off the bird. I then inked up my Distressed Texturz plate with Soft Suede and placed the branch on it and added the ink and texture. I glued this to my base then sponged some Tempting Turquoise and Island Indigo. I loved the variation in color on the blossoms on the inspiration piece, so I decided to create a wrinkle free distress bg. I modified the technique a bit by spritzing with homemade shimmer spray instead of water. I then punched the flowers. I added a bit more of the darkest pink with a paintbrush and also spritzed the bg piece with splatter from the brush. I used a stylus to add some curve to the petals and added pearls to the centers.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. This is a lovely sympathy card. That teapot caught my eye as well, but I ended up choosing a different item.
